Down with the Queen and King!

Is the tradition of a prom Queen and prom King outdated? It is a bit of an antiquated idea that probably adds nothing to the overall prom experience. In fact, if anything it throws into the mix a popularity contest and all but two attendees are losers. I say down with the king and queen!

It's 9:30 and everyone fills out their prom queen and king ballots. The band has stopped, dancing halts, and a person from the prom committee steps to the dais and announces the winners. So now you have two winners and 398 losers assembled in tuxedos and fancy dresses. Yeah, we really need that at a prom. If your goal at your prom is being voted king of queen, get a life.
